Setting up a route and monitoring equipment on a scheduled basis can lead to early warning "finds" that can save your company tens of thousands even hundreds of thousands of dollars.
If a motor bearing fails what is the cost? That might be insignificant when compared to the cost in the repair of collateral damage such as shaft, couplings or even the motor itself plus downtime of the line and the product lost.
Early warning detection makes sense. Parts can be ordered in advance (eliminating costly stocking expenses), production can be scheduled around the repair and the repair can be performed in an orderly, planned manner. After all, it's a lot more expensive when you let the equipment tell you when a repair is needed!
